Onsite Risk Assessment
An on-site risk assessment is the process of identifying hazards onsite and assessing the likelihood of harm.
There are two types of risk assessments:
-
General Assessments – Assessing all health and safety risks to which anyone on the site could be exposed.
-
Specific Assessments – Assessments identifying specific hazards that are created to a specific site and contain only relevant information for that particular environment or project.
Examples of Assessments Include
-
Identifying risk behavior(s) and encourage each other to comply with the methods we teach.
-
Car handling observations and logistics to determine how a task can be performed in a more efficient or in a safer manner.
-
Verification of blue flag or derail protection and red zone compliance.
-
Inspection for safety items such as, but not limited to: properly secured equipment, close clearances, switch condition, proper use of switches, and clearance marks on tracks. (Example Provided)
Once observations have been completed and detailed risk assessment overview will be provided. The written report will provide findings and recommended remediations to prevent or remove risks or hazards.
